One or both ends feature external threads for use with nuts/locking mechanisms or for screwing into mounting brackets; the middle section consists of a smooth, cylindrical positioning/support section with a step for axial limiting; one end has a round head, ball head, or thickened connector, which may be used for contact points, hinge points, adjustment stops, or assembly clamping. The surface is black (possibly blackened, phosphated, coated, or finished to resemble stainless steel or alloy steel), with machined fillet radii in some areas.
